Robbery
I knew
they were gone,
out for the weekend.
They do this every month.
I picked the lock.
It clicked quietly.
This robbery had gone just like any other,
until, I got nosy.
I looked in a child’s drawer,
a boy presumably.
I was searching for money,
when a paper jumped out,
reading:
“To: Hailey,
From: Your secret admirer”.
I rifled through
the party favors and the drink umbrellas.
At the bottom
were valentines,
blank,
I decided
I wasn’t going
to continue looking for glittering gold,
because
I knew
the most valuable thing
this boy had
has been stolen.
