My Sister’s Keeper
Memories of pills and alcohol,
Of makeup stained cheeks and a demonized mind,
Of the piercing sounds of sobs and pained apologies.
Perpetually haunted by your tears soaking through my walls,
By that sickening white room and patronizing scrubs,
By not knowing if that could’ve been the last time I’d ever see you.
Constantly questioning if…
If this is your last day,
If it will be the last time I’ll ever see your face, hear your laugh, or feel your embrace,
If this could be goodbye forever.
