Your Favorite Songs
I am now your favorite song.
The one that you got excited about
when it was on the radio.
The same one where you
smiled at the lyrics.
The one that was always on replay.
The one that never got out of your head.
And also the one that you told me
You would never lose interest in
because it’s the best one you’ve
heard in a long time.
But after a while, you stopped
caring when the song played on the radio.
It plays too much now.
You think other people are getting sick of it too.
Maybe it’s time to find another.
Eventually, I stopped playing
On the radio, in your head.
But you didn’t notice.
You found other songs to fill the void.
To replace your favorite song.
And when you were reminded of me,
the one you said you would never lose interest in,
you decided to delete it, instead of giving it
one last chance.
So I remain another unplayed song
while you search for your new favorite one.
