Helio's Chariot
I trail the flying mares in the scorching skies where
We travel with Helios, the riding and highly divine god of the sun.
my flames are the powerful signals for poor mortals below.
They need to respect the resting reign of Helios, whose visits to the
gods and goddesses are like an eagle’s journey to their nest in a
mountain. Phaeton learned about my control not when he was warned,
but when he foolishly loosed the sun upon the earth. ZAP!
Zeus’s bolt had struck his proud heart. He was confident that
I would obey his commands and his hands now no longer enforce
His wishes.
