Summer Nights
SUMMER NIGHTS
At dusk in the backyard
We swung on the porch swing; as the hot flames of the fire warmed our skin.
My three best friends by my side, laughing, talking, joking.
Elena's eyes grow wider as she remembers, and she speaks:
"Remember when we did that,
That was crazy."
The memory takes place in our minds.
The sound of crickets fill the air,
In the distance, a faint sound of Indy's non stop barking.
Like a lion, he roared at cars and walkers passing by.
Each laugh, each word, each sound and feeling, cutting through the muggy air.
