Broken Heart
For years we looked out the window together
Watching our happiness shine across the valley
Then you climbed outside the window
And we did not shine
As you slowly walked away
Your shadow got smaller
Until it was just me all alone in my window
That every gets darker
As you recede farther and farther into the darkness
Slowly watching the light in the window get farther away
Until I’m so far gone that my window is no longer a window
It’s been painted black with sadness
Now I sit here in the dark
Waiting for a day when that window will shine again.
