An iron tower climbs high in the sky towards the havens,
The pride of the city of lights.
Next to the tower the peaceful River Seine lazily winds through the city.
Boats of all different sizes and colors crowd the river,
Filled with tourists snapping pictures of the Sacrê-Coeur,
high on the hill of Montmartre,
And the imposing Notre Dame adorned with stone gargoyles,
Who faithfully watch over the city.

Couture shops display arrays of clothing, purses, shoes.
All different colors: blue, red, and pink, green, orange…
Silk, leather, linen, and decadent food fill the windows of the boutiques and shops.
Storeowners chatter with employees and customers in their musical language.

Here in the city of love, couples walk down the grand boulevards,
Hand in hand.
Some are headed to the Ponts des Arts a bridge,
Where they will display their love with a lock.
Others sit in romantic cafes making plans for their future,
While their drinking a rich cappuccinos after a savory meal.

In Paris the old and new mix together in a perfect combination.
Roman ruins lie next to a grand skyscraper piercing the sky.
Grand palaces decorated with silver and sculptures reside near tiny, quaint shops.
Ornate bridges of marble and gold adorn the Seine.

The city of lights a magical and beautiful city,
Where people from all corners of the world come to experience.
The city of lights,
The jewel of France.

I love this poem - it's really accurate!
