I was 15 when I showed a part of me
Gave out vulnerability
Spoke my poetry
And he laughed at me
I felt rationalized, marginalized
Ostracized

The pen is mightier than the sword
But actions speak louder than words
So I shielded away from the spoken word

Never in fear of being bored
But for fear of
Inadequacy
Lack of radicacy

I was 16 when I re-met poetry
Sarah Kaye put back the seeds in me
Showed me all me all that I could be.

That I was more than the reflection
Of a broken mirror,
Filled with talent
That he couldn’t see.
Now,
Well now I write poetry
