On Writing
I am told that writing will make me happier.
I am told that it will get my anger out.
Whoever told me this was wrong.
Writing my thoughts down make them worse.
I have to think about it to write it,
And I don’t want to think about it.
I want to push it into the back of my mind,
Let it disappear forever.
I am told that I can learn from my mistakes,
But I don’t want to learn from my mistakes
I want to pretend that they never happened.
I don’t need to face the music
The music needs to stop
I am told that I will feel better if I write it down.
But maybe I don’t want to
Maybe I don’t have to
Maybe there are other ways to feel better.
But maybe there’s not
Maybe the mistakes will linger in my mind
Maybe they’ll haunt me for the rest of my life.
Maybe I won’t forget them
Maybe I won’t.
But maybe I will.
Maybe I’ll write about it
Because maybe what they told me was right
After all, I do feel better now.
