There is a darkness
Creeping into the brightness
Of our lives
Trying to get in between us
It has the power
Of destruction
This darkness takes many shapes
It might be the monster
Hiding under your bed
Or the creature
In your wardrobe
And it hurts
Oh yes it hurts a lot

I have been hurt by this darkness
Not once
Not twice
Many times
But being with you
Can help me fix myself
Seeing you laugh
Can erase the pain inside of me
Hugging you
Makes my day become good
And I hope I can do the same for you
I hope I can be there for you
Give you strength
Make you laugh
I try, yes I try very hard

I don’t know everything
I don’t know the how and the why
Why did we let the darkness
Get in between us
How did the darkness
Get into our lives
Many questions but such few answers
But the past is in the past
We live in the here and now
The darkness is behind us
And we are still here
Together
And nothing will get in between us

As long as there is
The you and the me
The darkness will disappear back
To where it came from
From the shadow of fear
Inside of us
