The Goodbye
It was summer time.
There was daylight, fine rain, and flowers.
I looked behind me,
I made this Journey.
Hugs, Hope, Waiting, Watching, Wondering.
Just standing,
my thoughts went fuzzy.
Holding my hand,
he looked at me.
He looked at me,
with sadness.
He said,
“It’s time for me to go. Will you take me home?”
I lead him through my house,
but I would never lead him home.
As I watched him leave,
my heart dropped.
I miss him,
and he hasn’t been gone long.
As I made my way home,
I cried.
I cried because,
I don’t know when I will see him again.
I got to my door.
I smiled.
I smiled because,
No matter how far apart we are,
we will always be in each other’s hearts.
