My heart beats a thousand times a minute
I begin to jump, warming my body up
I place my goggles, slap my thighs
Making my arms look like windmills
I prepare to step up on the block.

My favorite part of swimming
The 27 seconds to 7 minutes you’re racing,
The competition. Just me and the pool.

The stress, the excitement, the fear, and the prize
Build up like the symptoms of a heat stroke victim
In the middle of the hot baking sun. ]

But i was not going to sit there
and let her win without a fight.
I was going to make sure to give my all
and then some.

My team mates cheering me on
Jamming my fingers into the touch pad
Realizing I beat my old time.
My friends, family, coaches, and team all cheering.

Swim is my life.
It defines who I am.
What I’m about.
And what I live for.

Inspired by swimming, my favorite sport. I want people to be able to feel how I or other people feel about swiming or be able to relate to it someway.
