To be known is to be loved and to be loved is to be known

I have never felt the loss of someone I have loved,

I can only imagine how it must hurt, how much you have lost,
I have only lost two dogs when I was young.

Other than that I have been blessed to this day,
To never have felt a pain that way,
To have that everlasting pain that only slowly dulls,
The void in your heart that can never be filled.

To have the loss of another roaming your mind for the rest of your life,
To never be able to bring up that name and story without feeling the hurt,
To be lost in a world sadness that never seems to end.

What you would give to bring them back,
How happy you would be with them next to you,
But sadly all we can do is mourn for our loss,
To try to replace them when we all know it wont work or to find someone else.

To have to think about how much you loved them,
All you did with them, all the great memories,
How they comforted you when there were troubling times,
How it seems like no one can ever know you the same way they knew you,
Or how they cared for you, do all the things you did with them.

To realize is that the only way to move on is to accept it,
That you will have to be "OK" with what happened,
To pretend that it no longer bothers you.

To give up all the fun and memories that you made with them,
To see their face once again would be everything to you,
But all you can do is to move forward and forget what happened.

To continue with what happened before it happened and start what you would have done,
To look into the future and see how great it will be,
But all you can think of is how much better it would be with them.

To only be able to visit their gave and plant flowers next to them,
To say confess to them how much you miss them,
How much you loved them, to tell them all of what is going on but never hear them respond.
