Silence and Solitude
There are but two things that I most enjoy in life
Silence, when there is the sound of nothingness
And solitude, when there is the sight of nothingness.
O, how I love such simple things
And how I despise their opposites
Why must this be?
For it is the loss of faith in humanity.
No longer is it common to aid one another
The simple gestures passed down through generations slowly fade away.
Soon enough it will be a world full with selfishness
And with this I chose Silence and Solitude
Within myself I will be alone and quiet
Making sure I don’t go insane
On the outside I enjoy the life I have been given
Watching the days go by one by one
Only to think, is it really silence and solitude that I want

What inspired me to write this piece is ideas I had when I was in the 5th grade. During this time I was the lonely kid that no one liked and I often was living in silence at school. When I got older I moved with my family to another state and eventually made friends. Later on I started to wonder if my views changed.
