You Were My Temporary Home
Our love was suppose to last,
yet there I was, surrounded by sadness,
trying to remember your loving embrace.
Your arms always felt like home.
My heart, once filled with warmth,
was broken, shattered,
drained of blood, left without a beat.
Emptiness was all that was left.
Your face, your smile,
they're no longer present.
You haunt me. You wrecked me.
I wish I saw this coming.
I saw a picture of you today.
I smiled, I laughed,
I cried, I screamed.
It was only a reminder,
a reminder that you're gone.
I tried to offer you the world,
but you had your own.
It's hard to rid this pain, even now,
but darling, I am stronger now than I was then.
