"The Rich Man"

A tall, handsome man with black, curly hair, dressed in a black suit,
Red tie walks into a bar,
Louis Vuitton shoes,
With a black and silver Rolex watch,

He approaches a very fine woman,
Golden skin and hazel eyes,
With a white Versace dress and shoes,
As her long, blonde hair falls just below her waistline.

They stand at the finest restaurant and
They wait to be seated,
Holding hands and laughing at stale, rich jokes,

They sit and order the most expensive,
Steak and potatoes,
Jumbo shrimp,
Lobster dipped in butter.

As the waitress hands the man the bill,
The man’s eyes get wide,
The woman knows that look,

She saw through all of his lies,
She pulls hundreds out of her pocket,
Then left,
The man sits there with his head down,
He knows he messed up,
He knows he’s not as “rich” as he looks,
Boy what a story he’ll tell his mother when he gets back home.
Jordyn uses imagery to help capture the reader’s attention and to help them see what’s going on in the poem. The imagery also could help the reader to understand the message of the poem. Jordyn’s message was “Don’t judge a book by its cover”. She displayed this message also through irony because in the end, the man was not as rich as he looked. He took the woman out and didn't have the money to pay. She also uses oxymoron to over exaggerate about the food that the man and the woman ate. Jordyn uses punctuation to slow the poem down so that the reader could see the events happening chronologically.
