Depression
Lock yourself in a pitch black room
Make sure no one can hear your screams
If people talk you listen but don't dare say a word
Take your hopes, dreams, and happiness
Lock them away in that empty space some people call a heart
Watch helplessly as those hopes, dreams, and happiness are overcome by the fear, pain, and loneliness your body now holds
Let people yell at you
Let people use you
Let people "love you"
Let people tear you down
Let people be dissapointed in the person you didn't mean to become
Let people know there is nothing wrong with you
Let people know it was just a burn not cuts
Let people see the beautiful mask you wear to cover a broken skeleton
Let people believe the fake smile you've earned
Let people wonder and guess what's wrong but never ask
Let yourself know there are no sunny days
Let yourself know there is no help
Let yourself know you're alone in this fight
Let yourself know no one cares
Let yourself know you're a monster
Let yourself know that this is why no one loves you
Let yourself know it will be like this forever
Let yourself know that your outbursts for help go nowhere
Let yourself know that you are not alive but dead on arrival

Depression is a very serious condition many teenagers have. I used to be depressed and that is when i wrote this poem. For everyone struggling with depression or thoughts of suicide just know that it does get better. Whether you realize it or not there are people out there that would miss you very much if you were to suddenly vanish.
