Silhouette

A silhouette

piercing through the mist.

Ever morphing, ever changing.

Another moment later

the shape has changed now

hunched over and walking with a limp

the silhouette bounds to me

as though we were bound through time

Now at that I look at this silhouette

it looks more like a man

I can see through the veil now

as i look at this man

his face glows like the moon every once in a fort-night

his eyes, blood shot

his lips, purple with dashing blue

and his leg twisted and mangled

yet as I look at him, I think to myself

his journey was cut short because we lacked proper training

if we had been a couple seconds faster, a few steps smarter

Maybe, just maybe we might have saved this man

But I guess that’s what we all might inevitably pay

We can’t pass the gates with giving something

He was let off easy

We are still bound here,

desperately trying to find a passage homeward.

But I fear we are already

too far gone

and the last glimpse of light

has shot its last glow on our rooms

Now we wonder in the dark

ever searching but never finding the door
to our freedom.
