Gray Day
What a gray day today.
It feels like I’ve been driving forever now.
Not a damn thing can be seen through this mist.
Careful not to fall asleep
Have to find a place to rest first.
Eyelids getting heavy, gotta keep steady.
A sign, finally.
It reads Justice Falls, Wyoming.
Wyoming? No I can’t be here, it’s too far.
Turn back to the road.
Something...something there
Thud
Screech
Stop
...Catch my breath. What happened?
Keep it together. Wide-awake now.
Gotta go out. Gotta see what I hit.
Pull over to the side. Get out of the car.
Too misty, can’t see a damn thing.
Look around best I can, nothing.
I could’ve swore...is it getting lighter?
Turn back to the road. Headlights.
What a gray day today.
