Ode to Racing
Walking through the grid
Cars to the right,
Cars to the left,
Two by two by two.
On an on the field gets ready
Waiting for those famous words
Drivers start your engines!
The night roars to life
On by one they roll off the grid
Going through their routines
Tensions getting higher each second
With engines ready to unleash fury
Pace car lights are off, Showtime
As the pace car turns hard left
The field bunches up bumper to bumper
The flagman raises his green flag
The polesitters eyes widen
Fans all along the frontstrech
Ready for the drop of the green
Going around Turn 4
Fans rise to their feet
Gathered around the Last Coliseum
Ready to watch their Gladiators do battle
Like thunder in the night
The field is ready to rumble.
