Wars are waged,
The missiles engaged,
For the people are enraged,
All while the lake dries up.

The people all die,
Leave the children to cry,
Where the bodies lie,
While the lake dries up.

Everything is burning,
No one is learning.
Never close to earning,
Still, while the lake dries up.

This home will be no more,
It will be folklore,
Just a topic not before but
After the lake dries up.

We are gone,
Extinction has been done,
No one has won,
And the lake of us finally dried up.

The author's comments:

I first thought about writing about global warming, and how it is a major problem. So I looked up some causes for global warming, and saw that if we all worked together, we cold stop it once and for all. I relized that the first step is to make peace, which is the reason the poem turned out the way it is.
