Just Another Finish line
I see them coming.
Two people on bike
Wearing blue and white.
I spot them easily against the grey pavement
As they come slowly around the track
I see a man and a girl
Looking tired for the long day they near.
The closer they come
The older the man
The younger the girl.
They come so close.
So close that I can hear the man
Which I am guessing is the girls dad say
“I am so proud of you. It took a lot to do 50 miles”
I can now hear the tires
Thud, thud, thud
They look like they don’t want this to end.
They look like they want to turn and do it again.
But they don’t.
When they finally cross they say nothing to me
I know I am important.
With out me they could not finish.
But then again
I am just another finish line.
