The Winning Run
Its the 9th inning, a man on 3rd base, the score tied up 4 to 4 and I'm up to
Bat. I slowly walk up to the dirty home plate regripping my bat over
And over as I walked closer and closer a million things running
Through my mind, the thought of everyone watching you
Strike out get him home I say to myself, taking my
Practice swing, looking up at the pitcher waiting
For him to start his windup my legs week
Arms feeling heavy so nervous already,
As the pitcher started his windup and threw the ball it went straight
Down the middle I watched it go by the umpire yelling ‘’strike’’!
When I heard that it made me want to hit the ball even more
Than I did before, I re gripped the bat and and got ready
For the next pitch, as the pitcher started to wind up I
I got ready, it came to the outside when the ball hit
The bat it made a ding! It shot into center field
Over the center fielder,
He
Took off
For it everyone
Yelling and as I rounded
1st sprinting to 2nd base dirt
kicking up behind me and not even
Needing to slide into 2nd base a stand up
Double and i scored a run
