My Path to Success is Forward
My Path to Success is Forward
You may talk about me
With all your twisted, hateful lies.
You may try to belittle me and treat me like a fly.
But my path to success is forward,
You can’t hold me back.
Does my attitude disturb you?
Why are you so filled with hate?
‘Cause I soar far above you
Like a radiant fiery phoenix over a shadowy cloud of crows.
Just like the certainty of your spite and hate
That is gleaming in your eyes.
My path to success is forward
Past all your hate and lies.
Do you want to see me fail?
In the slums with shattered dreams
Shot down by your hate and lies.
That’ll never happen,
For my dreams are like phoenixes,
They will never die.
Does my determination appall you?
Then don’t stand in my way,
For I’ll swiftly move past you while you hang your head in shame.
You can hate me with a passion
You can lie about me behind my back
You can rage at me with envy.
But my path to success is forward,
You can’t hold me back.
Does my ethnicity offend you?
Does it come as a surprise?
That while still being black I have surpassed you and all your lies.
From your hate,
I have moved past you.
From your lies,
I have been freed.
Don’t stand in my way.
For my path to success is forward and I won’t be stopped along my way.
