What Is Home?
You never know when you will hit a crossroad, or even a dead end in life.
But personally, this is when I hit mine.
My parents split when I was two
Not given an opinion of where I was going, or not understanding why the man I called man wasn’t come home for dinner every night.
This is when I realized I had hit my heart stopping crossroad.
But at those moments of utter despair
another man stepped into my life.
Giving me a different road to walk down, surrounding me by another universe.
A man
A man with a long pony tail and a short beard.
Who worked all day and was home late at night.
A man who was a father to kids that weren’t even his own.
Things at home started to feel like a family again.
As third grade came around Ripped from the place I called home.
From the father I knew, to the man I once knew.
The man who once was my father who I hated is now taking the role of a parent again.
As years went on the bond between us had gotten stronger.
A momma loving boy, who went from seeing his mother every weekend, is now spending more time with the man he used to despise.
The bond between the Father and son grew quickly.
The father turned into the biggest fan, but as the boy got older, the father and son realized they were just like each other.
They soon realized they were just like each other; the son grew bold, hard headed, and crazy.
The son left.
Living with his mother time went on. It took a toll on both of them.
Without the son the father had no baseball to watch, with of the father the son had no one cheering anymore in the stands.
A phone call, the son had manned up and gave the dad a phone call, apologizing for what was said.
The father had a lot to say, after a four hour conversation.
The boy was back at the ball park and the dad was back in the stands.
