Today is a new day,
I told myself.
And that I was going to be
Daring and adventurous
Free spirited and open minded
She grabs my hand
And drags me across the fairgrounds
I brace myself for was about to come
And in the corner of my eye,
I see it.
A massive contraption so high
You could touch the heavens
And it had death written all over it
I push open the gate,
And I can feel sweat
From other nervous victims
But I can't tell if its me or not.
I tell her I'm nervous,
She says “everything will be okay “
We slowly creep up
And everytime my heart skips a beat
We wait in silence
Because mainly we were too nervous to speak
Well at least I am,
We stand next to hot and sweaty people,
Whose skin rub up against us
And their exposed,
Warm feeling of flesh.
Did not comfort us
They were just as nervous as we were,
Frying under the sun
We get up to the top
And were already so high up.
And in the distance you can here
Screams
Just fade away
As if they are echoes bouncing of a wall
We pick our line
And wait.
And wait.
Then we hear,
“On coming riders please step on the the platform,“
My pulse starts racing,
And death is the only thing that crosses my mind
A lady comes around to check our harnesses.
Then they yell “all clear ”
And give a thumbs up
A gunshot noise goes off
And my heart sunk, like a rock
Then.
We were in motion.
Click,
Click,
Click ,
Up we go
Into the unknown
