The One Night Stay
Walking slowly out of the building thinking how much trouble I was in
I think how much fun we had.
Thinking back to climbing that old rusty ladder leading up to the top of the building.
Wearing all black so that the people don't see us in the building next to us.
Having trouble breathing because we were so high.
When we finally got to the top, I laid down and looked at the stars.
This is the only place where you can see the stars in the city.
Hearing the sirens below, we get up in panic,
but then realizing we have no where to run,
we just stand still waiting for them to bust down the door.
The butterflies in my stomach felt so good.
I look up again, at the stars and I calm down.
I cooperate with them, but they still put me in cuffs.
Sitting in the car looking at the cops talking with dad.
I can barley hear them through the glass but i can make out a few words.
I remember him saying "Sorry sir, she has to do the one night stay."
Walking out of the building he stops me and
said we should do this again, I agree.
I turn around and start walking down the street,
I will never forget the stars.
