Up north
I come from,
going up north with my family
every year one week.
Running all over.
From
running in the hot sand burning our feet,
to tackling each other down trying to knock the football out,
or swimming in the bone chilling Lake Huron.
From
diving in the sand to hit the ball back over the net,
celebrating as you score a goal on the beach,
getting sand all over each other and in all the cabins,
to getting a nice nap in a hammock.
I come from
trying to count all over the shooting stars,
looking up trying to find the big dipper,
sitting around a bonfire laughing with each other as the stories continue,
and then of course doing it all again the next day.
