I step out of the car.

Nervous,

Anxious,

And

Panicked.

so many thoughts running through my head.

Like what if I do really bad?

I slowly walk towards the team spot.

“You will do great,”

my mom says with a smile.

It is as hot as a heater,

turned on high.

Will this affect my performance

I ask myself.

“Alexis Guerrieri, come get your running bib,”

coach calls out.

He hands out the rest of the bibs.

Then,

we head over to the start line.

In the middle of warming up,

I tell myself that I will do GREAT.

We all get back on the starting line.

“Runners, on your mark, get set, GO!!!”

I panic for a quick second

then I take off.

I carefully follow the white line

on the ground below me.

I am sweating badly

like I never have before.

I slowly speed up

trying to catch the girl

in front of me.

I finally pass her.

“1st mile complete,”

a director yells out.

Flying like a cheetah.

I see the flags blowing

in the wind.

Crowds of people everywhere.

“Go Alexis, run as fast as you can!!!”

My family is shouting.

I run through the shoot.

I finish with a good time.

“Great job Alexis,”

coach said with a big smile on his face.

I am so proud of myself.

My performance was at speed.

Nervous isn’t in my category,

for my next meet.
