LOST

Step by step in Pure
Darkness!
Looking around in a blank world,
Wondering how will I leave this mysterious place.
I continue walking as I hear the clashing of BRANCHES
LOST!
I hear a scream like the sound of a
Tea Pot.
Worried that someone may be out there
As the sight gets brighter

My heart beings to rise like the sun
LOST!
But just when I thought it was over
I see something approaching like…..
And then it
STOPS!
I begin to run away
Not remembering that
I have nowhere to go
LOST!
As I try and find my way I continue to keep
running into obstacles.
But I know in my heart I will find my way
back to
LIFE!
All the tricks and turns
I come to realize that maybe After all
I will continue to always be
LOST!

The Poetic strategies that I used were Litany and memory. The litany strategies I used were repeating the last word of each stanza with all caps and an exclamation mark. The memory strategies I used were that I was at a point in my life where I was completely lost in life. I was confused and didn’t know where exactly to turn. Now I am kind of still a little lost but it’s getting better and better as the days go on.  I have also learned a few things like everyone has a point in life where they are lost but it only takes a strong person to push their self out of the lost state of mind and into the I can do anything state of mind.

The Poetic devices I used were Punctuation, Sensory Details, Stanzas, Personification, Similes, Line Breaks, and lastly White Spaces. I used these poetic devices because it made my poem feel more alive and interactive. When reading this poem I can actually see myself in that place.  I used sensory details when I said,” As the sight gets brighter.” and “I hear the clashing of branches.” I used Personification when I said, “I hear a scream like the sound of a tea pot.” and “My heart began to rise like the sun.” I used line breaks, white space, punctuation, and stanzas throughout my entire poem. These are the poetic devices I used in my poem.
