The Sterile
Take a moment,
To glance their way.
Oh! So so thin,
Like flesh
Tossed on assembled sticks.
No food, no alms,
No life, no hope;
No place to call home.
They beg, not only for food and alms;
But also for a better life.
They steal and share , amongst each other,
The meager that they receive.
Treated like rabid dogs,
With eyes that stare at endless darkness,
With mouths dry, pleading for food or drink,
With limbs that hang hopelessly,
With bodies tired, deprived and emaciated.
They are souls lost, forgotten and ignored.
Take a glance their way.
The hopelessly sterile; yet alive.
