Abrams Falls
The heat from the sun
roasted our
backs and sweat drizzled
down our faces.
I was exhausted
as we hiked along the
five mile path.
I couldn’t believe the pure
beauty that lives in the
Smoky Mountains.
My legs got weaker
but I felt determined
to finish one of the
most dangerous hikes
in America.
We climbed over
rocks,
roots,
sticks,
and stones.
When my dad, sister, and I made it
to the waterfall, we were
blown away at the breathtaking sight
that would be worth hiking
two hundred miles.
The water poured over rocks,
splashing onto the water below,
creating a beautiful
white foam appearance.
When I stepped into the water
it was
chilly,
cold,
and refreshing.
I could feel rocks
beneath me,
smooth rocks rubbing
against my toes.
I swam over to the waterfall,
touching the powerful
water with my fingertips.
I could smell pure nature,
nothing artificial or fake.
The water was so
clear, that you could see
right through it.
Memories will last a lifetime
from this small, but
amazing adventure.
This moment was truly
spectacular.
It was a moment shared with the
people I love.
