Linoleum

The last time I saw her this sad was in Kindergarden

when she fell ofd the monkey bars and scrapped both knees

causing streams of blood to run down her shins

staining the tops of her stripped socks

But this time it was different

she cumpled with sadness

falling apart on the babthroom floor

like a piece of cheep toilet paper

the kind with the perferated lines

that ran accross her wrists

sharp ragged breaths she breathed

her shoulders quivered violently

her lungs grapped the air

she lay there

her cheek pressed to the cold Linoleum

at eye level with the bases of three toilets rooted into the bone colored tiles like trees that realsed the smell of bleach instead of oxygen

because of budget cuts

the vien like pipes zig-zag along the walls and scramble along the cealing

the water drained from the belly of the sinks taking the air from the room with it down into a maze of clammering pipeline.
