The Dance of the Savages

September 24, 2014
By Anonymous

As the sun descended in the brilliant evening sky

On the beach seven silhouettes roamed by

Next to each other side by side

Under mutual rules which they abide

The gentle waves of the sea splash

Bringing forth a magnificent structure

And despite the stench of the nearby trash

It was aromatic and that was for sure

Slowly but surely, the structure floated to the shore

And the silhouettes were stirred like never before

They charged and jumped and crawled and leaped

Wanting to come in first, not second, not third

One of them reached it and took a bite

Another snatched it with all his might

To back off and divide, some of them tried

But in the end, nobody lived through that night

The author's comments:

This piece may seem like nothing much, but I poured my thoughts about these recent conflicts on this world. As radical as my beliefs may be, I really do think that each party in this world is acting like one of these beasts in the poem. I hope people will see how problematic and even inhumane our ignorance is.
