"Indeed"

He was dancing in the dark
The song was so sweet
But the lyrics were eerie.
The music flowed through him
Even as he stumbled,
Falling down for his last dance.

He was dancing in the dark.
His final performance held no audience
But empty bottles and worthless dreams.
A penny for his thought would
Only be wasted on the tab for
His next drink.

He was dancing in the dark
Ashamed,
remembering what the bottles
We're supposed to forget;
To take away. He drank
And put his life in those bottles
To sail at sea so one day
Someone could help him
get back home.

He was dancing in the dark
just a little boy missing his home.
But no one ever returned the bottles
So as the CD broke
Just before he tied the rope

He was dancing the dark
This time dancing off beat
To his own song
His very last song...

She was dancing in  the dark
Her body moved so smooth and fluent
Like the music was writing to her.
And his hands wrote out the words
All over her body
Editing what others had
Already submitted

She was dancing in the dark
he was at first gentle
But then he lost control
And mindlessly drummed
into her the words
Only he could hear.

She was dancing in the dark
Looks like hugs from daddy can't save
Little girls from giving "their bodies "
To bad music and lost boys
Trying to be men.
Mistaking strong girls for women.
And loving nature for weakness

She was dancing in the dark
But it is their weakness that makes
This as it is.
Wrong!

She was dancing in the dark
There's a differences from being
grown and doing grown folks business
and being the business of "grown folks."

They were dancing in the dark
Just lost boys and girls
Breathing in every note
The lyrics touching them
Like scripture.

They were dancing in the dark
Trying to hide from the monsters
Under their bed.
Nightmares tapping on their eyes
Like rain, falling slowly and hard.

They were dancing in the dark
Making theirs highs like mountain tops
And lows like endless cliffs
Letting history repeat its self.

They were dancing in the dark
Even after the music stopped

They were dancing in the dark
Hoping the pain would fade
Away as the their footsteps
Grew louder drowning the rest of the world out.

They were just dancing in the dark.
