Every day since you left

I have been thinking of you day and night

For you shall never drift

away from my mind

away from my sight

We sat with each other

We helped each other

We comforted each other

We confided in each other

We shared each other's joy

And through those dark days

when we shared that common fear

When we ran that same race

to decide our future

to decide our 'career'

We encouraged each other

to give our best

to face it together

right up to

the final test

And then we waited

for that day on our minds

But finally, it was decided

that we would part ways

And that our friendship would be put behind us

I shall never forget

those terrific times

And my great regret

when we had to leave each other

to lead our separate lives
