There it is,
That lonely flag,
In truth it is never,
For it stands as high as the moon,
Giving strength,
To those who lived,
In remembrance of those who perished,
Strong against the fiery winds,
Never to fall,
For if it does,
From Hawaii to Manhattan,
All strength will be lost,
The United will break,
Never to see that flag rise again.

This poem is about both the famous flag raisings- the one at Pearl Harbor and the one at Ground Zero and what it would mean to so many if that flag was forced down again, never to be able to rise once more. It's about how much the USA flag means symbolically to the citizens of the USA.
