The mountain peak stands alone in the grey.
His brothers and sisters enveloped by the thick carpet of fog, thrown across the land.
Secluded, he feels, no-one around but the smothering fog.
Yet, he does have company.
The wind that whistles through treetops, rustling leaves and shaking branches.
And the sun, as it begins to rise, warming his back and chasing away the fog.
As the sun weakens, the peaks of his family begin to push through.
The winding river sparkles in the sunlight and the mountain peak is no longer alone.
The sun has rtisen, the fog no more, and a new day has begun.

The inspiration for this p  oem came to me one day when we were driving to a sports game. It was a beautiful day and I could see the mountain clearly. The days before had been dark and miserable so I began to think what the mountain peak might feel like on those days if it were a person. Then I put pen topaper and created this poem.
