Nostalgia
Just like every food has its taste,
every memory has its feeling.
And this particular one is sad.
It clenches tightly at your heart,
wrenching deeper and deeper
with every thought you invest in it.
And every happy moment
becomes sad.
And you miss even the worst times,
and you cry because of the happy ones.
You wish you could go back and
live a little more,
take those chances.
You wish you had hugged someone a little tighter,
paid more attention to the sunset,
and counted the stars.
You wish you had remembered the stupid jokes,
and said all those words you just couldn't.
You wish you could just live in that memory,
living life as it was,
and you wish that it had mattered as much then
as it does now.
