Credo (Belief)

I believe in a happy ending,
I believe in fires and wood kindling,
In a beautiful love story,
In putting aside the allures of fame and glory,
In giving instead of getting,
In any God and praying,
In the serendipity of car rides at night,
In the forgiveness after a bad fight,
In the mournful pitter-patter of rain,
In the post-break up ice cream to alleviate the pain,
In walking in another’s shoes before you judge them,
In making an ordinary stone into a shining gem,
But what I don’t believe in,
And this might cause an upheaval,
But what I don’t believe in is people.

The author's comments:
I think when people ask "What do you believe in?" they expect a loaded answer, full of deepness and philosophy. I'm a big believer in the deep and philosophical, but I also think beliefs can also be as simple as ice cream, and as complex as misanthropy.
