Anything is possible if you try

Our streets
Our streets
Oh!! How dangerous they can be
We walk around daily not knowing what will happen next
Or maybe, just maybe let's see what happens next
Boom!Boom! Shots fired, shots fired
Everyday someone dies
Everyday someone gets shot
Everyday there's harm and violence in the streets of Chicago
Sirens, Sirens
Sirens everywhere
All we here are police trucks, firetrucks, and ambulance everywhere
Target, target
Our young, black male
Description: dreads,white T-shirt
"Oh that must be him"
Chicago PD
Chicago PD
Are just as corrupt as our fresh air
Oh maybe oh maybe
Our street our streets
Will we live another day?
Oh! very well, just maybe
How? How you say?
"We can't help it"
Or can we
Make a difference make a difference
Everyday we can
Start by taking these guns out our hands
We can help it as long as we try
Let's not tear or cry
Our streets
Our streets
Let us live another day or second
Let our children survive
Oh very well let's help you survive

The author's comments:
I chose to write this poem because there's so much discrimination and no one is willing to change it. So I want to speak from my heart to show how corrupt some people are. How some people only believe that African Americans were related to a crime that they didn't commit.
