Something About the Way
It’s something about the way
 His less-than perfect smile
Acts as mittens on a cold day.
 It’s something about the way
 He corrects substitute teachers
 Who incorrectly pronounce my name.
 It’s something about the way
His friends used to flirt with me
 But now make goofy faces
When they think my back is turned.
 It’s something about the way
 He paints my arm
Instead of his canvas in art.
 It’s something about the way
He offers to walk me home
Even though he takes the bus.
 It’s something about the way
 He steals my pencils
Just so I have a reason to chase him.
 It’s something about the way
 His hoodie
 Is my favorite color.
 It’s something about the way
He’s always asking me to tutor him
Even though he has straight A’s.
 I think I like him
 Because he likes me.
