"Never grow a wishbone where you ought to have grown a backbone"- Unknown (I read it in a book)

I may look tough,
or act like you,
to be the same,
it’s really true.
I sometimes lie,
or laugh at jokes,
that normally.
I would provoke,
I smile at things,
because others do,
and all the time,
I copy you.
you talk of boys,
and so do I,
if you do it,
I will try.
you gossip,
mock,
and laugh at me
although it hurts
I mustn't be,
like other girls,
you laugh about,
who cry and whine,
and are cast out.
although I seem ,
just like you,
that statement,
isn't entirely true,
I may have faked,
I may have lied,
but deep deep down,
is another side.
A fun loving side,
with love and care,
who reads loads of books,
and always shares,
who plays the flute,
and piano too,
so, no my friend,
I'm not like you.

The author's comments:
I think a lot of teenage girls experience this a lot during junior high and high school. What inspired me to write it was that it is what happened and happens to me. I hope that teenagers who read this and feel the same way will know they are not alone
