The Glass Lie
Looking through glass, you see the truth. The lies told by those truest to you, which take their time to burn through.
It’s easier to pretend than to speak against the heart. Lies shine in the darkest of times, there to worsen the pain.
But in the depths of those very lies, you find someone; the speaker of truth. There he stands, proving that there is still light in the world.
I learned that those dearest to you tend to cause the most agony. But we forgive, afraid of losing them.
We cover the glass to deny the truth.
There lies the biggest irony of all: we choose that which we believe to suit our hearts’ desires.
We speak against the truth, but deny the lie to preserve our humanity.
