Winter Has Come

As winter rises
Bitter, cold, shards has cease the landscape
The time has come to escape-
To warmth, to spring, to life…
Winter has come.
Departing from the ground into the sky
They soar orderly and aligned
Flying, fleeing: Freedom
Black winged mortals,
Creatures of the wind and sky,
Masters of soaring.
All escape to new ground,
To a welcoming destination.
