That’s all I see in the mirror;
That’s all I see in the scars on my wrist.
That’s all I see in these damned bleeding fingers;
That’s all I see from my face to my hips.
From my hips to my feet, that’s all I can be,
And the only thing I see is ugly.

(Lovely)
That’s all I see when I see her;
Strength’s all I see in the scars on her wrist.
Strain’s all I see in her raw bleeding fingers;
That’s all I see from her face to her hips.
From her hips to her feet, that’s all she should see,
And I wish she could see that she’s lovely.


The author's comments:
My best friend has spent the past three years dealing with body dysmorphia, as well as self-harm and other things. This was just sort of a way for me to vent my frustration at being unable to help her as much as I wish I could.
