tire tracks
I’m losing you and I know
because I can feel the echo of
your silence in the cavity of my
bones and your presence is no
 longer sweet but a heaviness
that weighs down on my shoulders
 and seeps into my skin.
 The lavender breath that once
 filled your lungs now smells
like rain-- the kind that forebodes a storm.
 Your fingers have begun
to tangle themselves in my hair as if
 they don’t know where they
belong and I’m sure you already
have your gas tank full and a
map drawn ending in a place
 where I do not exist.
