Passing Time
Passing Time
A never-ending accumulation
of all emotions,
of all memories,
that distinguishes
present actions
to previous thoughts...
a gap in the middle, a gap
that everyday we
float through,
pass over,
to travel back and
relive our past
at a time
when it was once
our present.
Our past
leaves behind
imaginations,
that to us,
are the richest
of pleasures.
Choosing what to
remember,
relive,
cherish,
rewriting your past to something you
enjoy,
want to recreate.
The past gives that freedom,
creates a
world
with no limits,
where we look back and realize
what it was like
to feel the way
we once did.
We notice
bad moments
becoming
joy,
tedium
becoming
triumph.
Each struggle,
making us stronger.
We revisit rote repetitions
with a different outlook,
now seeing,
the pride in success,
comfort in safety,
enthusiasm in learning.
We grow,
but need to
look back,
reflect on our past.
Because time
by itself,
is nothing.
We give it
our own value,
by growing
our memories,
and adding
to our life.
Making our time
special.
