Is a school house in August,
empty and avoided
The parking lot, once crowded and overwhelming
is now deserted
Sometimes you can see a single soul going in,
always coming out
Loneliness is an empty warehouse,
home to rodents and squatters
but even the mice reproduce
and the squatters warm their hands over the same fire
I believe that the leading cause of depression is loneliness.
Loneliness is an ugly sweater
unpleasant, but it’s the only one you have
Loneliness is unnatural
So many species rely on company to survive
Packs, flocks, schools, herds, prides
cliques, posses, family
This is where evolution has taken us
The lone wolf chooses to alienate itself from its pack
feeling empowered at first
may later find itself lost and starving
need other people unable to endure
Introverts still need other introverts
The Joker needs Harley Quinn,
Batman needs Robin
It’s an unavoidable fact that people, no matter how big the ego,
Still need other people.
