To Burn

The smell of a fire is a simple thing,
But it’s so powerful to me.
In a single moment, memories rush into my head:
The foggy impressions of laughing with friends,
Cooking dinners, and making s’mores;
The stories told, the tears shed,
And the connections made because of them;
The easy happiness that comes with being at my home away from home.
Camp is home,
And I can’t wait to go back for a summer of campfires.
